Thomaskirche, West
West Facade of the Thomaskirche, Leipzig, Germany
Copyright 1992 Tomoko Yamamoto

Description:This is the portion of the west facade of the Thomaskirche in Leipzig, Germany where Johann Sebastian Bach worked as Thomaskantor of the adjoining Thomasschule between 1723 and 1750. The Thomasschule building no longer exists. This photo shows the Gothic doorway underneath the gable of the west side of the church. The gothic doors are underneath the window. The window consists of three parts, the top circular window with the two arched window below. The arched window itself contains three small circular windows. The wood doors have decorative hinges. I also have a photograph of the entire west facade which is against a cloudy sky. This is my 1992 photograph for which I used my OM-4TBlack or M-1 with the 50mm/1.8 lens. The film was the Kodachrome 64.
